Race report by Lewis Jones

After a 6 week break following a long season I raced a Herts winter Rd1 this past weekend. I’d only planned on taking a few weeks off but the British weather has been terrible.

So I knew it was going to be a tough day with the vast majority of my competition taking advantage of a dry weekend and enjoying open practice on the Saturday. With my family having moved house on the Friday I was unable myself to join them.

With dad unable to make it I was on my own, with Alan Dell standing in the pits for me. A steady start in rd1 with a 5th in round on JConcepts Triple Dees. I managed 7/5:30👍

Round 2 and I switched to Reflex in black compound and with a more consistent run managed to TQ the round.
Alpha engine on point as always. I managed 7/5:19👍👍

I changed tyres again this time using JConcepts Teazers in Black and the car felt amazing so much grip and consistency. I was able to improve again, this time 7/5:14👍👍👍 just under 2 seconds in front of the rest of the field. And take the overall TQ

The Main final was a really good race, with a heavy hitting line up on me, Clancy, Callum, sloppy, Reeves and Cox all doing battle on the Herts track. I lead for the first quarter of the race but jamie and sloppy got by after I crashed. Following that I wasn’t able to catch them to pass but finished up 3rd just behind Graham and Clancy taking the win. Congrats to those boys on the podium positions.

For me I was just happy to get back out with the AE/Alpha/JConcepts/Tekin buggy and race some laps after such a long layoff. Thanks to Alan for his help and of course my sponsors for which I am ever grateful👏👍
