Great weekend over at the JC Raceway venue for Rd3 of the BRCA Nats! The track was super fast and precise!
My overall result didn’t quite show my pace unfortunately but that’s racing! In qualifying I had a 9th, 12th and I was stuck with a 27th counting round after a couple of mistakes on my part dropped me down the list. Thankfully I was able to scrap into the Semi finals with the bad round counting!
My Alpha powered Team Associated #RC8B3.1 was handling the track conditions great on Proline rubber! I opted to run the Electron in Clay compound after trying the Holeshot in M3 for the earlier 2 rounds.
I changed set up slightly for the Semi practice and it made the car a little easier to drive, I was confident as we lined up for the semi final that I had a shot at the main! Unfortunately, a bad start put me back, I kept my head down and began to pull the last bump up position back in! A random cut on the back uphill straight put an end to my chance of making the main final though. Mom got the car back to the pits and it fired straight up and finished the race with no further issues! (We think a stone or something could of caught the flywheel)
As always great results for all of the team with 3 cars making the main (3rd Neil, 6th Mike and 11th Jamie) special mention to Matt Cunnington for his result at his first national! After only starting out 1 year ago he made the 1/8th finals!
Up next for us is the BRCA Truck/E-Buggy nats down south at the Herts track then we fly out to the Euros in Portugal on the Monday morning! 🇵🇹
