Our 1/8th Off Road Team manager reports back from a great day at Nene Valley for round 2 of the NitroXCross...
"Wonderful day at Nene Valley Raceway for round two of the Nitrocross Winter Series. Alpha drivers dominated the event taking all rounds of qualifying, the top five qualifying positions and the top four places in the A main.
Jack Embling took TQ and the win, but in reality it was much closer than that. Mike Lewis pushed Jack hard in the opening qualifying rounds, but a tyre choice error in round 3 handed the TQ to Jack.
At the start of the A final, Lewis Jones jumped up to second and pressured Jack on the opening laps. These two broke away from the Lewis brothers with some superb driving.
Mike Lewis unfortunately dropped out of the race with a bizarre fuel tank issue, promoting Matt Lewis to third and Jon Spencer to fourth. At the second pit stop, Lewis jumped ahead of Jack, and it was clear that the following driver was able to lap quicker without the pressure of leading.
A mistake by Lewis at 16 minutes allowed Jack though to take the lead which he would not give up this time. Great effort by Lewis to keep in the race and close in on the last lap, only to make another mistake in the final jump section.
It was a beautiful display of driving from the youngsters up front and a brilliant team effort to showcase the new Alpha Dragon IV engine. Thanks team, your doing me proud."
